Vorteile:

I like that you are always working live, graphic take off second to none, products interchangeable at any point no need for a thousand formulas/recipes/string to change 1 item

Nachteile:

They are in WA so 2 hour time delay to east coast for customer support, but apart from that it's great

Linked Building Beams Review

Kommentare: Now that we have learned the program we find Beams to be a real asset to our business and we are constantly discovering clever functions which are really useful, time saving and reduce risk of duplication.

Vorteile:

Having all the functions in one software is great & Beams estimating is very powerful allowing for fast, efficient and consistent take off's

Nachteile:

I didn't find the program easy to learn and it is not always intuitive. The CRM is not up to speed with a lot of other CRM programs out there and has limited search and reporting functions. In general allowing better flexibility of content & presentation for reports in Beams would be a real improvement.

Beams potential

Kommentare: Integrated accounts, payroll, estimating and purchase order creation.
Build process is painstakingly set up the potential for Beams mobile is also great.

Vorteile:

100% Australian owned and operated. The potential to fully integrate home building process for both project homes & custom home builders. The potential to be improved on modern software platforms. The potential for Beams administration to have home building templates for build process & production estimation in NSW. The potential for the set up of the basic Categories/Coast Centres for builders in NSW The potential to integrate with supply chain providers. E.g. Bunnings, Hume doors, Gainsborough, PGH, etc...

Nachteile:

Australian created software originating from W.A. it is disjointed from the East Coast of Australia by way of building process, methodologies & glossary of terms. Time difference for technical support. The lack of information aligned to NSW builders. Too complex and areas for errors.

Beams Review

Kommentare: Overall i am happy with the software and it has made administering the jobs easier and more professional. It definitely saves time in estimating jobs.

Vorteile:

I like the fact that the software incorporates all aspects of a construction business not just estimating, it takes care of payroll, tax, scheduling, variations, purchase orders the lot. This was one of the reasons for choosing this software, the main reason for purchasing this software was because it is a desktop version not just on the cloud as most other packages are.

Nachteile:

The least thing i like about this software is the support subscription costs per year are too expensive they are around 14% of the initial purchase price. One thing that beams does not offer and we are looking to other software for is a client communication portal where clients can see the progress of their build and communicate selections variations etc. directly with us.

Vorteile:

I mainly use the Accounts section and find it easy to use and navigate around. The reports you can generate are great. Completing the BAS using the Taxation Processing has made it easier for our Accountant. The Payroll Processing is simple and easy to use and STP reports generate with ease.

Nachteile:

Something simple but I find it frustrating I have to minimize every tab to get back to the main menu, it would be nice to be able have that as a tab too.

Beams - a real builders choice!

Vorteile:

Beams is a easy to use estimating software. We didn't have the accounts add on at first but now since we got it its brilliant. The customer support is always helpful and you don't wait to get through to the right person to help you through any issue you may be having.

Nachteile:

I think the Beams Mobile is a helpful tool but could be updated and used more in tune with the back office program. It doesn't really work that well for day to day use calling up tasks onsite. I think they should look for it to be more cloud based and have bank feeds to the accounts software to reconcile accounts.

Beams Change my Business

Kommentare: Solve my problems, Yep. Just pumped out an urgent quote in under an hour, pushed the button and there was a full specification with pictures, quote and I look Proffesional.

Beams will structure your business in the way a Proffesional building business should be

Nachteile:

I thought I would pick Beams up and just use it, They told me I would need six lessons, well they were right plus a heap of short phone calls. But it has paid off and I am finally getting on top of it. I must comment that it was never to much trouble for Beams support, All the stupid questions constant phone calls they were always fantastic to deal with and it was never a problem.

Kommentare: I have used beams for many years and as a sole trader I could't run my business without it.
Gives me a good handle on where I'm at financially at a glance .
The management team at Beams are second to none. Any answers to questions are only a phone call away.

Vorteile:

Estimating, Accounting and Contract management Its a breeze to enter and complete a quote, especially when the prescriptions are set up well. Accounting and reporting is great. Date entry is simple and the reporting is a touch of a button. Importing bank statements and bank reconciliation is brilliant. Makes BAS reporting very easy. Producing progress claims and variation orders and purchase orders

Nachteile:

The quote letter A little bit impersonal for my liking and perhaps too much info on the letter. I usually write my own.

BEAMS The Complete Package!

Vorteile:

Can't talk this up enough, its the complete solution for anyone in the Building or Construction Industry. The benefits of having one Software Application to do literally ALL the tasks needed to run our company can not be over stated.

Nachteile:

Like any all-encompassing software it takes some effort to get your head around all the many and varied functionalities within the package, but with time, patience and persistence it has become our hub for everything within the business.

Product Review

Vorteile:

The customer support is very helpful and easy to get through

Nachteile:

I don’t like how you can’t amend an invoice once entered as you have to delete all entries to amend the date or amount if entered in error

Good software but can be great with a few changes.

Vorteile:

* All in one software ie Accounting, estimating, scheduling and some contract management. * Good integration between accounting, purchasing and estimating. * Great customer support - there is always someone on the other side of the phone. * Local supplier adds to convenience. * Robust - have not come accross data coruption.

Nachteile:

* Lack of ability to access from out side the office - ie not cloud based software. * Limited reporting - you can print accounting reports but there is not much flexibility to customise those reports. * lack of ability to automate some tasks * the need to deactivate if other user want to use when you are away.

BEAMS is excellent

Kommentare: Overall we find it great I wish we could use its full potential but it would be time consuming setting it up

Vorteile:

Estimating is great, Accounting continues to develop, Wages continues to develop, BAS is great.

Nachteile:

At times when computers have been updated the BEAMS registry gets knocked out and you have to ring BEAMS to get back on. Does not transfer over to Excel very well

Great Software

Vorteile:

The program is very simple to use, is very stable and is regularly updated with new features

Nachteile:

When a job is open and being worked on others cannot access the job.

Not Happy

Kommentare: Very disappointing to say the least.

Vorteile:

I really liked the sound of this program. But I have been very very disappointed with it. Not sure if this is a pro, but it was a tax deduction.

Nachteile:

I really don't know where to start as there are so many things within this program that are not user friendly. A couple of examples of this is that you can not edit anything within the addenda once its produced and you need it to export it to excel to edit. If you find you've then missed something, you are then required to start this process all over again which you can lose hours of work which then needs to be redone. Another example is that the program can not work out how many studs are required for building timber frame walls. As the program cost so much I still have to use it as it is slightly faster than pen and paper and I can't afford to just go out and buy another program.

No need to use any other software in running a construction business.

Kommentare: Ease of use results in a cost saving during the operation of the software.

Vorteile:

Intuitive to use, is kept up to date and running smoothly. Excellent support. The link between project and accounts provides a seamless segue that saves time.

Nachteile:

When estimating custom homes and renovations/extensions it can be a little fiddly.

BEAMS review

Vorteile:

It makes estimating a job fast and easy. there is every item in the template you need so once you get to the end you know there has been nothing missed. having the flexibility to input your rates for each item gives you the flexibility to customize each quote to your particular building company

Nachteile:

it took me personally a few more sessions than normal to work out how to navigate around the CAD take off and estimating due to my lack of computer literacy. the guys in the office, particularly [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN], always were on hand to help me out. so far nothing else has been a problem with the software. only positive.

Beams mobile could be improved to see attachment in the Purchase Order. CRM could be better too.

How it integrates projects with accounts.

Nachteile:

The accounts side of things requires some improvement to make it more user friendly. For example, when you want to print records for a particular account, you can't select multiple accounts so you have to print a separate report for each account.

Kommentare: Great experience and just wish i had it sooner for my business.

How easily it is to find out how much profit margin you are making less expenses with also giving full control on what is allowed for each project.

Nachteile:

It takes a little bit of time to get used to but worth the wait.

Not having the ability to use add additional email address within the program Not being able to choose a different email address (from the program)when sending emails

Beams Takeoff

Kommentare: I purchased the product to do takeoffs and estimations. It does way more than i need it to do.However, i struggle with the cad takeoff system as i have never been trained properly in the use of it.I basically use the manual enter system and have never gone on from there. I live in the country so getting to a training session is very hard and also expensive.

Vorteile:

The software is obviously very capable,if you know how to use it.

Nachteile:

If you have never had training you will find it difficult

Can do so many things and save time

Vorteile:

The fact it’s set up/based for building and construction. Constant updates to the program. Support services are helpful and fantastic.

Nachteile:

I find trouble to sometime learn and find all the software features. I find some Tasks are clear on how to do it and self learn.
