I work in an IT department and we use KACE to handle our help desk tickets and much more.
Vorteile: It seems to always be improving. There are updates that come out and we tend to be early adopters for any updates. The interface changes along with the functionality and it always seems to be to the benefit of our company.
Nachteile: It would be nice if we could have a ticket open and then a counter would start. This way we could track how long it took us to complete a ticket. There doesn't seem to be this functionality with it.

An overall nice solution for managing computer inventory, updates and Help Desk tickets.
Vorteile: Managing computer updates is a breeze. The Service Desk ticketing section works really well for setting up different queues for different types of tickets and allows for setting up many different user groups and processes.
Nachteile: Support has never been the best for this when Dell had it and now that Quest software bought this out it, unfortunately, is not much better. One annoying bug that has yet to be fixed is that a users out of office message can trigger a ticket to be updated and then create an endless loop of Kace sending out ticket updated notifications to the users and then the out of office reply updates the ticket again and on into infinity. We've had a few tickets spiral out of control like this and really affect performance. Support didn't have a solution only a cheap workaround.

KACE is our help desk solution
Vorteile: One of the best things that we use KACE for is our tech support help desk. When the end users put in a ticket and describe their issues, we have a date stamped ticket number and a good heads up of what we need to do. Another great thing we use KACE for is to push down software and updates to our school computers which is a time saver to say the least. No more going to each computer and installing the software over and over. We also keep track of our inventory on KACE and can see when the last time a computer has logged into the network or if it is currently logged in.
Nachteile: This software was intense to learn. But, we did have several hour long webinars with a KACE tech to get our team up to speed.

Kommentare: We use KACE for Windows device management and patching. We use it to deploy some apps and scripts, as well as to do reporting for our devices. It's great when it works, but always slow.
Vorteile: The ability to execute scripts on remote systems that are not currently online (by running them after the devices comes back online,) the ability to view warranty information for most systems, and the advanced reporting capabilities.
Nachteile: It's slow as molasses, on a good day. The scripting functionality, the best thing about the product in my opinion, is being deprecated. Bad patches can be removed from KACE, but that doesn't remove them from the endpoints.

One of the worst things to ever happen to our company.
Kommentare: We have the benefit of know not to use Quest products in the future. The number of bugs and deficiencies in the K1000 have overwhelmed us for 2 years.
Vorteile: Kace has many tools for systems management, inventorying, monitoring, and tracking systems within a networking.
Nachteile: Kace's email handling is a complete joke. It's service desk design is utterly shortsighted . The base network handling is very inefficient and the database functionality is very bloated. Trying to get support for Kace is like trying to win the lottery. Consider yourself luck if anyone responds at all, let alone if they can actually help.

KACE has revolutionized how we survive our customers
Vorteile: Once you have customized KACE to your environment and deployed the agent to your end points, the amount of information that is pulled can be categorized and reported against, giving you a good look into the health of your hardware. Distributing new software and 3rd party updates to devices is very easy and can be scheduled to run at various times.
Nachteile: Initial setup can be grueling. I would recommend a partner come in and perform the setup. I find it a bit aggravating that if I have multiple KACE windows open, when a page refreshes it will load one of the other windows instead. Of course that's not an issue with the software per say, just the way i want to use it.

Good option for an all in one computer environment management appliance
Kommentare: It has made our life a little easier with the patch pushouts as well as license compliance tracking.
Vorteile: Kace is a Good option for an all in one computer environment management appliance for small to medium businesses. With it you can manage inventory, push out software and windows updates, monitor software license compliance and even do helpdesk ticketing.
Nachteile: It can be overwhelming sometimes as it has so many features. using it with larger organizations can cause it to be a little slow.

On the money for protection.
Kommentare: Great software the gives you the protection you need that can easily be managed.
Vorteile: Simple setup and you can easily be installed in minutes. I was amazed on how quickly the setup was and how easily it can be managed.
Nachteile: Some false positive errors, but the software did detect abnormal behavior. It might need a few updates on canceling out unnecessary protection.

Excellent Management System
Vorteile: Great for managing software, creating installs and inventory management. Has plenty of room to create my own scripts
Nachteile: Sometimes the KACE agents failed to update a computers status, this occasionally would cause a false positive report.

Kommentare: This is a great resource and I highly recommend Kace.
Vorteile: I like that Kace offers system management of IT equipment and software. Anything from servicing, to security, to managing can be handle through Kace. This is invaluable in IT.
Nachteile: Patch management is still something that needs work. It can be problematic and complex if you're not sure what you are doing.

Dell Kace is a powerfull tool that we use for managing Inventory, Assets, Software and deployments
Kommentare: Helps us on time management with installing and deploying software. Also a better system for helpdesk
Vorteile: I like that we can push software to all of our machines very easily. We use this appliance mostly for helpdesk and asset management but we also use this for Software deployments, Scripted installs and patch management.
Nachteile: I hate that when we bought the product when Dell had the product we could get support at no additional cost. Now you have to pay for the added support on new features that we dont understand. If they release new features you have to learn it on your own or pay to have someone help

We have used KACE for over 5 years now and it works for what it is.
Vorteile: Kace covers our two pain points of updates and tickets. We are looking into using it more for asset tracking as well and it appears that that will work well.
Nachteile: They don't have some things I would consider common sense...for instance if a ticket is submitted and that person has an out of office, the out of office will open another ticket. A little more access to the database for custom reports would be nice as well.

I have used Kace for about 6 years. It has made my life much easier and simplified IT management.
Kommentare: It simplified things and created a centralize management console for everything.
Vorteile: The K1000 has so much functionality and allows you to manage all parts of your IT environment. It does ticketing, deployment, pc management, asset management, knowledge base and so much more.
Nachteile: In the last few years the support has really fallen off. They now want to charge you for any assistance and it takes days to even get help.

Vorteile: This software has so many options available that it is hard to find anything out there to compete with it.
Nachteile: Because there is so much that this software offers, the learning curve is high. I have been using this for years and still havent mastered it.

Dell Kace: One Stop Shop for IT Management Software
Kommentare: We use Kace for helpdesk tickets, inventory management, pushing out software and scripts, patch management, and desktop reporting. It's really great having all this under one pane of glass. Professional services got us up and running with very little difficulty, and their after purchase support is superb. I would gladly recommend this software.
Vorteile: Easy setup, agent has no performance update on the workstations. The training that comes with the purchase is the best I've seen with a software purchase.
Nachteile: Doesn't make me coffee in the morning, could be a little easier to retire machines in the asset management.

Easy to use with a variety of options

Vorteile: I love the variety of options and all of the different functions the system has to offer. It is also very easy to use.
Nachteile: I would like to be able to have more options to customize the color scheme as the recent update change from a dark color scheme to having a white background.

Kace is what you need
Kommentare: My experience with Kace was great! I wish I could continue using it.
Vorteile: Kace is what you need for any dell environment, helps manage software, deployments, and imaging. Would highly recommend.
Nachteile: Can take a little background for people to understand how to use it. Can have issues and get no error codes.

Excellent Internal Ticket Tracking
Vorteile: It is very simple to use this product for submitting tickets. The configurable options are excellent allowing the ability to customize what information is gathered.
Nachteile: There not much negative to say. This product does what it is intended to do and is easy to use. It is used daily without issue.

KACE gave our IT department room to breath and work
Kommentare: I love KACE and would recommend it to any IT department. There is value in all aspects of this product. Also, KACE is nowa Quest product, not Dell.
Vorteile: Automation of patch management and a helpdesk ticketing system gave us much needed structure and alleviated us from having to waste time on patching. Having a self service portal and being able to push out alerts was a huge benefit.
Nachteile: Software deployment can be really difficult, if not impossible in some cases to get right. There are many cases we have yet to figure out.

My go-to for ticketing and asset managemetn
Vorteile: When its working, it works well. Its great for tracking your assets, monitoring and deploying. Ticketing is a breeze too.
Nachteile: It can be cumbersome at times. The UI is a little stale, and the system can be a bit slow. While their support is generally pretty good, they expect a lot of the customer in order to roll out and troubleshoot the actual system.

Does some thing well, others not so much.
Vorteile: Does a good job of creating and managing helpdesk ticketing queue and updating Windows based computers and servers.
Nachteile: Doesn't do a great job of updating Mac computers. Agent doesn't automatically update when you move to a new version. You have to buy hardware and software and it gets very pricey. No built in remote control features.
