The professional version of this tool is very costly. It yet doesn’t support credential based scan for machines which have 2 factor authentication implemented on it.

"Tenable Nessus - A Complete Solution for all your security needs"

5,0 letztes Jahr

Kommentare: The Console . The Tenable Nessus console has all the modules like M, PC ,Discovery . The Same agent can be used to perform all these tasks and scan for vulnerabilities . Its pretty straightforward and easy.Plus Integration it offers with other tools is awesome to have.

Vorteile:

Tenable helps companies discover, design, diagonoze, defend and monitor their business assets and corresponding threats .

Nachteile:

Reporting format is a bit shaggy if you would ask me ..But having said that , the addition and deletion of controls also has to be more easily doable.

Nessus Professional Gets The Job Done

5,0 vor 4 Jahren

Kommentare: This product does a great job of informing your IT and security groups on what may be vulnerable in your environment. Especially if your organization is looking to begin a program, start small and use this service to build up your processes and program before sinking large amounts of money into other services or products.

Vorteile:

Nessus is still the industry leader in this arena, and the ability for the product to identify vulnerabilities accurately is still the high water mark to beat. You can be up and running in just a few minutes, and the ability to have recurring scans is a great way for this product to help you with your security program. The "Plugin Output" fields help greatly when trying to determine if tests are a false positive, and lends additional credence to your system administrators when you can show them exactly *why* something has been detected as a vulnerability.

Nachteile:

There are no ways to track vulnerabilities or your efforts to monitor them over time; this truly is just a point-in-time view of your environment unless you upgrade to a much more expensive product.

Tenable Nessus- A Robust Vulnerability Assessment Tool

5,0 vor 3 Monaten

Kommentare: It is my favorite tool which is used for vulnerability assessment which helps to find security breaches and threats. Its less complicated to administrate too . After doing lot of researches with different tools we have finally decided to go with Tenable Nessus . Also the automation part is pretty much helpful .Scan report helped me to find the security threats and implement that based on the report

Vorteile:

Most i liked about this product is that its designed to be user friendly ,making it usable for both experienced and intermediate who are less familiar with vulnerabilities and next important is their frequent updates system which helps in making the security system more effective

Nachteile:

1. Scanning time is bit high 2. Sometimes false positives 3.Cost factor

Nessus: Vulnerability Scanner with Appealing Reporting Capabilities

4,0 vor 7 Monaten

Kommentare: Nessus is a must for network security testing and vulnerability analysis. Together with Nmap, Nessus gives a much better penetration testing and vulnerability analysis of networks and virtualized cloud infrastructures.

Vorteile:

I used Nessus with nmap for testing the vulnerability of virtualized networks in controlled environments. The main motivation behind the selection of Nessus is to have a user-friendly vulnerability report with categorized network exploits and OS weaknesses. Nessus provides accurate results (though some false positives are noticed in hardened Linux environments). The advanced reporting capabilities in Nessus makes the vulnerability results easily exported and documented to relational databases. Moreover, the various Nessus reports can be compared after hardening the OS with different security configurations.

Nachteile:

Nessus is very accurate but sometimes, especially with latest versions of Ubuntu, many false positives are noticed. Still Nessus results are considered highly informative and the false positives can be autonomously filtered to provide more accurate vulnerability analysis and reporting.

Nessus for vulnerability scanning

5,0 vor 5 Jahren

Kommentare: After our first major client security audit, we implemented Nessus to run weekly internal and external vulnerability scans. Not only does this help satisfy our client demands, but it helps us find vulnerabilities in our systems and helps us find patches and solutions to the vulnerabilities.

Vorteile:

Easy to set up, use and report on. We started using this application after our first major client security audit a few years ago. It's a been great tool.

Nachteile:

Not much to dislike with Nessus. Maybe some better reports, and the cost could always be better, although it's not bad.

Easy to Use Vulnerability Scanner

5,0 vor 6 Jahren

Kommentare: Good canned reports and dashboards, which show where your critical risks are. Ability to export date into CSV or Excel format was welcome and made manipulating data easier.

Vorteile:

What I like most about Nessus is that they have many plugins available for the various vulnerabilities that are out there. The ability to scan static and dynamic asset lists is great. The ability to schedule recurring scan jobs is helpful and aids in the scanning of systems. Integration with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is also great.

Nachteile:

It would be nice if their website had the published or revised date of their plugins. Resolving issues related to their Nessus Agents would also be nice. The UI could be improved so that queries didn't take so long. It would be nice if there was an easy way to purge old data associated with particular IPs.

Best Vulnerability Scanner

4,0 vor 3 Jahren

Kommentare: Nessus is one of the best vulnerability scanning tools in the Cyber Security field. There are no arguments with the functionality of the tool providing itself. As an overall comment, Nessus is very good to manage your infrastructure assets from cyber attacks.

Vorteile:

Nessus is very unique and has a user-friendly interface. Also, the deployment is very easy and we can update plugins by using GUI.

Nachteile:

As per my 2+ years of experience with the Nessus tool, sometimes it contains false-positive results. Therefore, we need to manually go through all results before submitting them to our customers.

Vorteile:

It did what it was advertised to do and did it well. The updates to the plugins were done regularly and it found everything out there that was a vulnerability

Nachteile:

Lacked reporting module that helped show more of the picture for non technical people and pretty graphs. To get those you needed to move to Tenable.io or SecurityCenter.

THE vulnerability scanning software to beat

5,0 vor 5 Jahren

Vorteile:

Nessus is the gold standard of vulnerability scanning. A robust solution, highly customizable for every organization with cloud, on prem and client install options.

Nachteile:

Without the local client or group policy that shuts off wifi when your on wired you may get hit with 2 licenses per device because it sees both the wireless and wired instance. Something to know going into it if you are buying.

Excellent Visibility

5,0 vor 5 Jahren

Kommentare: Vulnerability assessments in client domains both internal and external have been highly simplified with the usage of Nessus, making security recommendations easier.

Vorteile:

It is relatively straightforward to scan an entire enterprise network due to the ease-of-use with the policies that are available. Customized creation enhances the overall process.

Nachteile:

Configuration expertise is required when it comes to specifically tailored assessments in separate domains. This can be slightly tedious with expected results; but once you get it right, the scans are highly effective.

The Defacto Vulnerability Tool for the Goverment

5,0 vor 2 Jahren

Kommentare: Good tool that is a must use for the government.

Vorteile:

First, it was free for us to use since we a government entity, and I was able to get training on the product. It is relatively easy to use once everything is set up, and it can scan just about anything.

Nachteile:

The initial setup can be a chore. Adding scan zones and repositories, as well as having to update plugins on a regular basis. Also, sometimes scans fail with very little information as to why.

Bang for your buck!

5,0 vor 4 Jahren

Kommentare: Overall, we have been very pleased with the trial. The software has helped us identify and re-mediate vulnerabilities in our environment and fills a gap in our security requirements.

Vorteile:

We are currently trying out Tenable.io and using the Nessus scanner to run local vulnerability scans and remediation at our company. I like the ease of setup and use of the Nessus scanner and the detailed reporting that is available with Tenable.io (cloud version).

Nachteile:

The Nessus scanner does utilize a lot of system resources and the scan (less than 50 nodes) can take up to 2 days to complete. It would be nice if the scan was faster.

Good automated tool, but lots of false positives

5,0 letztes Jahr

Vorteile:

Nessus is the state of the art on automating vulnerability scans for networks and infrastructure. It has lots of customization options and can be deployed locally to make an active scan on the internal infra. or through the cloud.

Nachteile:

It can be expensive to keep it running for smaller business. Also, many false positives can be encountered and then depends on the analyst to interpret and classify each vulnerability along with a more appropriate severity.
