Vorteile:

I like how easy it is to prepare optimal geometries for analyses out of complex ones. SpaceClaim has specific tools for this purpose and they find errors automaticly.

Nachteile:

Simulations require a lot of processing power and time. Therefore it is hard to run simulations on Laptops.

The modeling software you need.

Vorteile:

What I like about this software is its ability to perform modeling operations quickly and efficiently. You can modify geometries by rotating or resizing them.

Nachteile:

I think ANSYS SpaceClaim is a powerful and user-friendly tool; therefore, I don't find any aspects of it that I dislike.

Spacelaim above all other modeling software

Vorteile:

Fast, friendly user interface, parametric modeling, optimization, we can spend more time addressing actual engineering problems rather than modeling on software.

Nachteile:

design tree is missing (commands that we use). That can be enabled in other way but should have been a default feature.

This is a wonderful suite to perform precise simulation and get accurate results with multiple cores

Vorteile:

1.) Its topology optimization in a latest update provides accurate results against shape optimization in old versions. 2.) This saves time when running multiple computes to get your desired mesh.

Nachteile:

1.) It requires a wealth of knowledge and experience including theoretical & practical. 2.) It costs high for learners and does not provide access to full set of tools.

Professional 3D modeling and simulation tool

Kommentare: I have worked with SolidWorks for design 3D models. But when it comes to simulation Solidworks have very limited options. Then seniors suggest me to use ANSYS for the simulation purposes. More advanced simulations can be modelled with ANSYS. It is a great tool. Plenty of tutorials can be found online. Correctly following the design steps will lead to successful simulation.

Vorteile:

This tool is recommended by most of the professional experts for the simulation of 3D models. Basic operations are very similar to ordinary CAD tools. Advanced simulations can be modelled and simulated. Lot of tutorials and documentation are available on the internet.

Nachteile:

It requires basic mechanical engineering knowledge there for not much suitable for beginners. Highly advanced tool than other CAD tools. Simulations require a lot of processing power and time. Therefore it is hard to run simulations on Laptops.

Handy CAD inside a CAE

Vorteile:

Top Level simulation software like ANSYS, Msc etc, expects us to have design file ready for analysis, the option to edit our design inside a CAE software is very minimal. SpaceClaim is a boon in such cases where you can open it within your ANSYS Mechanical and modify if any changes are needed and then proceed with further analysis, SpaceClaim is one of the good CAD tools with which we can build robust models from scratch for analysis. It becomes extremely powerful when used with ANSYS

Nachteile:

We have mostly used the student version of Ansys and SpaceClaim failed to import some models which were build in other softwares like CREO or SOILDWORKS, that is the main issue which we faces

ANSYS for analysis and simulation

Kommentare: For simulation and analysis this is the best CAD software one can go for. The Latest version is an add-on with more useful feature to ANYSYS spaceclaim enables the user to get the job done.

Vorteile:

The user can constraint the sketches with spaceclaim design options. New block recording feature allow the user to easily edit the CAD models which are imported from other CAD platform. Analysis is best in this software with detailed stress definition. Simulation of operation is also done.

Nachteile:

Use interface need to improved. Customer support needed with more multi domain representative. Software is bulk for lower configured workstations.

Vorteile:

I love to describe this software because I have used it a lot in my masters studies. In my subject CFD I.e. computational fluid dynamics I have used this software to define a structure and also analyze the flow through it. Space Spaceclaim is very much user Friendly and easy to understood. I took only a week or so to have a good command over Spaceclaim. The different geometries can be easily define and can be specified with given boundary conditions in spaceclaim. The analysis and result section of ansys is the most interesting part as the actual fluid data were analyzed as per the Spaceclaim model. I have created a gear pump in Spaceclaim and also analyze it in detail with a working animation. This all can be possible via ansys. ANSYS can be defined as an Bunch of technologies and predefined technological softwares. For students like me 1 year of free ansys is available on the ansys official website. Every type of simulations were possible with ansys.

Nachteile:

It requires a lot of computation and the time of computation is pretty long as in my case of Analysis of a gear pump, I have to wait for some 15 minutes when there is an initialization of the structure. I know that complex parts are time consuming due to the meshing which is pretty dense. But a faster database is an requirement for the ansys users.

Simplicity and sheet metal functionality. The best CAD tool for simple 3D print designs and modifications of existing STL files.

Assemblies are not easy to handle. A very light form of PDM would be good.

Useful and versatile analysis tool for all projects

Kommentare: As a student, ANSYS has been extremely helpful for my projects and assignments.

Vorteile:

I used ANSYS extensively for the analysis of mechanical components. ANSYS APDL is easy to use and follows step-by-step procedures. Other platforms of ANSYS like the fluent is also very versatile. The software can be used to analyze simple to extremely complicated processes and structures.

Nachteile:

The documentation is not very good and getting help about projects and analyses is a bit difficult at the start. The software is memory intensive and requires performance computers for smooth operation.

Fantastic software for engineering simulations

Kommentare: I have used ANSY's for static & dynamic analysis. Tried a lot learn in the beginning correct but then it's now easy to process any analysis at work.

Vorteile:

Any type of analysis can be done for engineering simulations. It helped a lot during college projects and now continues at work. Integration with different modeling programs improved a lot.

Nachteile:

It's not an easy software so takes sometime to get experienced. But then simulations, CAE works get really easy after learning phase.

Robust structural and thermal simulation tool

Kommentare: Ansys constantly develops new tools and techniques for fast & accurate simulations. If you have a team of engineers who need advanced simulation capabilities with simple UI, it's the best simulation tool available.

Vorteile:

Ansys is an industry leading software for structural and thermal similation. It's modular approach to setting up multi-physics simulation makes it easy and intuitive to use even for beginner users. But don't let its simplicity fool you. If you know what you are doing it can pretty much let you adjust every single simulation parameter from meshing to solver settings. Geometry cleaning / preparation and meshing is perhaps the most time consuming aspect of running a simulation. Ansys' adaptive mesh refinement does an outstanding job of meshing the geometry automatically which is great for a first pass analysis. You can pass results from one simulation to other just by dragging and dropping an arrow in UI

Nachteile:

Unlike Abaqus which includes everything in one single license, you will need to purchase different modules for advanced simulations (non-linear, dynamic, fatigue etc.) which can be very expensive.

It gives reliable simulation results before manufacturing a device. At each version tries to solve the software problems.

Nachteile:

Sketching a system is harder compare than similar software. The user's help document is not practical because of lacking enough examples.

Easiest and fastest design and modelling software

Vorteile:

The direct editing philosophy is amazing. You can design very fast and edit any kind of file format as well. Have never seen a software that is that good at sheet metal

Nachteile:

Semantic pmi is really missing, very useful for its users.

Vorteile:

gives powerful structure analysis options in relatively user friendly environment. You will not find easier to use mechanical FEA software that grows in useful features with each release - for example topology optimization in v18 is really what most of mechanical engineers were waiting for in FEA tool.

Nachteile:

quite limited meshing options (very often do not recognize simple sweep geometries and created tetra mesh) not always intuitive (cross sections are nightmare, especially when you want to use 2 section planes)

Nice for CAD generation

Kommentare: Ansys SpaceClaim is a nice CAD tool and is continuously updated and improved. I recommend it specially if you are using other Ansys applications.

Vorteile:

Ansys SpaceClaim is quite a good tool for generating CAD files. It supports 2D and 3D designs and offer a wide range of geometry editing tools. One of the most helpful feature is that SpaceClaim was designed to be easily integrated into the other applications developed by Ansys.

Nachteile:

The only downside of using Ansys SpaceClaim is that it is no a feature-based CAD tool. This becomes an issue if you're used to such applications. Other than that, there is nothing else I don't really dislike.

ANSYS is a great software for 3D simulations

Kommentare: I used ANSYS for my research during my masters and also my phD.

Vorteile:

This software is much more user friendly compared with other 3D simulations programs. I think the learning curve is shorter compared with programs like abaqus. However, abaqus provides more capabilities and also introduces material subroutines and the capability of incorporating your own code with the program. However, I think ANSYS has included those capabilities in their more recent versions. They also have the CFD ( coupled fluid dynamics to their program) which is great to model interaction of fluids with solids

Nachteile:

It is a very computationally heavy program and it crashed a lot when I was using it. However, my setup of the time was not really strong so I was to blame as well for that.

Kommentare: I have used Ansys in some of my projects like CFD simulation and I must say that the results i have helped me a lot in my job.

Vorteile:

I mostly like in Ansys import geometry from other parts of softwares.I can import easly geometry in different file.Another thing is Meshing geometry.To mesh geometry is very simple and you can increase resolution of cells very fast .

Nachteile:

I like more Ansys CFX because is very flexible in running Turbomachinery case studies and I can change parameters very fast and take high quality results.

Good CAD for ANSYS

Kommentare: Good overall experience with Ansys SpaceClaim. Although, I hope ANSYS does not forget about Design Modeler and make SpaceClaim the exclusive CAD package in Workbench.

Vorteile:

What I find great about ANSYS SpaceClaim is its ease of integration with other application under the ANSYS Workbench software. This allows the user to complete the geometry and prepare it for CFD setup directly from the CAD software. In addition, the continuous support and updates, as well as the nice user interface adds to the software overall quality.

Nachteile:

There are some aspects of SpaceClaim that I don't particularly like. They're mostly not related to the software itself, but rather the type of CAD methodology used. For example I prefer highly parametric design, as well as feature based CAD modelling.

With ANSYS, you don't need to fear complex analysis

Kommentare: It is a perfect assistant for applications such as simulations, analysis, , design verification, etc.
I have used ANSY's mostly for static, dynamic and thermal analysis. It was challenging to learn to use this software, but after getting hang of it, making complex analysis became relatively easy task.

Vorteile:

+ It makes possible modelling and solving many kind of engineering application in a practical way and short period of time. + The results that is provided are accurate and reliable. + It has integration with other modelling and design software. + Tutorials are really helpful.

Nachteile:

- It takes so much effort to be good at ANSYS. -It is challenging to make a sketch for complex designs. That makes user have to resort to other design software such as Solidworks etc. When I get an error, I can hardly find the reason for this error.

Vorteile:

Ansys has so many module to run analysis what do you need.

Nachteile:

You must be careful when preparation of analysis. You will forgot the tools and details If you don't use this program continuously.
