Kommentare: I could best describe my experience with Godot as a mostly enjoy puzzle. Not great for productivity, as the answer I sought where rarely readily available, and often took a great deal of time wading through large chat logs to find proper solutions. It's fun, and when things flow well its enjoyable, but it certainly isn't productive compared to using other engines where when I run into tricky problems, I can find solutions in minutes or hours, not days or weeks.

Vorteile:

Free forever, and compactible with almost any project license. Largest community of all the available open source game engines. Best training resources of all the available open source game engines.

Nachteile:

Limited official documentation, and not likely to change anytime soon. The documentation has improved over the years, but at its current rate will take decades to reach the same level as unity and unreal. Limited use main scripting language, while certainly a great language it is limited to being used in Godot which makes it a poor choice for anyone looking to move beyond it. Limited training resources, while certainly the best out of the open source options, it is still a far cry from even the middle ground close source engines. 3D requires a lot of tinkering, you can get some great 3D results, but it requires quite a lot more work and time than Unity or Unreal. Because of that, I believe Godot is only a great engine choice for 2D or software development.
