Vorteile:

They provide good training modules. Almost anyone who is computer literate can complete the training and be able to navigate this product.

Nachteile:

Our inventory still does not function properly and getting pricing added we are nickel and dimed. The software is not intuitive and is difficult to use.

Kommentare: A suggestion would be to send a representative when a new company goes live with the accounting program
or hold an in house school in the state the customers are located.
EX. as a dealer for your product we would be contacted the date, time and location of your school.
Therefore we could send an employee.

Vorteile:

the system knows more than we do!!lol excellent system for parts, labor, sales, etc

Nachteile:

in person school would have been very helpful at the time of installing equipment. The cost of sending a trainer from lightspeed was too expensive and he or she wouldn't have known the way our accounting was set up. The accounting system is very hard to grasp . We were using quickbooks before we changed to lightspeed accounting. It should integrate with AG parts and service

Powersports Dealership on Lightspeed Evo

Kommentare: Lightspeed is a big improvement from our historic system. With quick internet speeds, the system works well but on slower speeds it can grind to a hault. The major thing missing from Lightspeed is easy to read, pre-canned reports aka dashboards for users to understand. This is across the board for all departments. The data is in the system but hard to understand for most.

Vorteile:

- Updates happen on a frequent basis. - Plenty of report options but most involve exporting to excel. Not enough "pre-canned" reports. Users must be tech savy, nearly with accounting background to run reports. - Cloud solution is nice vs. internal hardware.

Nachteile:

- Screen resolution makes things very small or blurry if made larger. - Feature suggestions do not get attention unless multiple dealerships ask for implementation. - Creditcard integration with Worldpay in Canada. The hardware for machines is terribly outdated. No tap to pay options. - Receipt printers are local not network printers. Sharing local printers in windows is not easy and now against security protocol for Windows. Bandage solution is to buy local printers for every machine. - When logging out of one computer and into another computer the session kills all activities you were in. It would be nice if when logging out the invoices, deals, etc were left in limbo and re-opened when logging into the new computer.

Kommentare: Okay but not great. With a few minor changes it could be great.

Vorteile:

Desktop widgets. Automated task like customer notification for special order parts. The ability to make custom reports.

Nachteile:

More "guard rails" to prevent staff from making mistakes. How about pop up windows that warn staff when there's a bal due on a special order pick up invoice. Or alert staff that a customer they've added to an invoice has special ordered parts ready for pick up. 1- Unable to create spring orders that do not affect the function of the buying guide. 2- Unable to allocate inbound parts for stock to a customer's special order at time of sale 3-Unable to use a scan gun for receiving 4-The system needs more filters. ie The ability to scan a part label and locate the part on a customers special order list. Then have the system auto fill as the parts are scanned. Add an addition button function to pick up these scanned parts. 5- Parts that have a min / max should automatically populate the buying guide. Why do I need to run a buying guide to add these items manually when I already set minimum and max inventory levels? 6-Please give us the ability to pickup all special orders and layaway parts for a customer with one mouse click. The current process of clicking on each individual special order and layaway is so tedious. Especially when the special order and layaway were originally sold on the same invoice. 7- Automated special ordered parts in re-notification that can be set by the dealer if a customer hasn't picked up parts a few days after the customer received the first notification. 8- Add the ability for sales staff to see when a special order for a deal has arrived

Software that fits the outdoor powersports business model

Kommentare: We count on a DMS to provide us a multitude of operational and accounting components along with a rock solid set of books for decision making and business banking needs. Lightspeed software does help us meet these needs

Vorteile:

The software is relevant to our industry and has features and benefits that help us manage the entire business of selling and supporting outdoor power sports. The suite does fit into sales service and parts departments daily interactions with staff customers and vendors very well.

Nachteile:

Support is virtually non existent. We have tried several different areas of seeking support and have been met with virtual crickets at every attempt. We are left to resolve most issues ourselves.

Kommentare: I've been using Lightspeed for 10 years, therefore I am somewhat used to the system. I still find it challenging to determine the customer account balance due. Again, a customer ledger would be extremely beneficial. In addition, it would be helpful if we could apply loyalty reward points after an invoice has been closed.

Vorteile:

I like the on demand training tutorials. I like that it is a menu driven system. I like that we can customize our Desktop with the most relevant individualized information. I like the custom tabs for each individual user.

Nachteile:

1. I don't like that we can not print out a customer ledger ! This is so very important! 2. Customers - can only have one customer name and one customer email address. Many people have multiple email address, plus a spouse or partner who have more than one email address. I would like to have fields for a 2nd owner name, address, email, phone #. Also the only field that cross references is the "other" field. It is difficult to look up a customer by a partner's name or business name. Many spouses have different last names. We have many customer accounts with multiple partners. We have a ton of customer's who both want to receive emails and copies of invoices, statements, etc. But the system only allows for one email address. 3. Customer Units- It would be nice and extremely helpful if there was a field for the previous Unit Name and a way to cross reference in the customer unit section. 4. The Storage Reservations and Customer Accounts don't link together. When we update a customer account, it does not update the Reservation information. 5. It is confusing to our customers and employees when there are two separate invoices for their A/R account and the Reservation. The invoices don't even look alike! Then we have to manually calculate a total due by adding these together. 6. All Custom Reports, we can't delete obsolete or old reports. Our list is too long and it time consuming just to try to locate a report I want. Also date last used would be helpful.

Overall a Better Software

Kommentare: A more clear picture of the business functionality as a whole.

Vorteile:

How this software connects all of the departments throughout all levels of the business. Sometimes it can seem like too much, but I think overall it is more beneficial to the company to have the software work this way.

Nachteile:

Too many different ways to achieve the same result. I often just want the best, quickest, easiest way to achieve something - instead I am told you could do it this way or that way. To me that is not helpful and can lead to errors and confusion.

Kommentare: It's a good product. Pricey, but it definitely gets the job done and it's better then any other software out there.

Vorteile:

I like how easy it is to prep the deal, print documents.

Nachteile:

I don't like the menu sell functionality. I don't like how parts and accessories have to be tied to the vin. Same thing with labor. It makes it extra work if a customer backs out of an accessory.

not much its a joke. you can easily see that people that dont have to use it in the day to day created it.

Nachteile:

I could write a book on how bad this software is but here are the big things1-not user friendly at all has no basic info readly to go for the user. 2- customer support is non existent (which sucks because every upgarde loses more and more of the stuff you need)3- way to expensive for all the headaches it causes in the day to day and reporting.

Kommentare: Nothing works together in a simple transaction.
Not a user friendly program at all.
Accounting does not work well with the rest of the program.
Too many keystrokes per transaction. Ridiculous to say the least.
Only being able to use Worldwide for Credit Card SUCKS!!!!!! They are the worst.

I dont know of any pros this program offers. One of the most difficult programs I have ever worked with in my life.

Nachteile:

Too many key strokes to accomplish a single task. Does not carry over info to corresponding places. Should not have to reconcile accounts daily. That is ignorant for an accounting person. My list is very long.... Service Connect is way too broad usually doesnt answer the question you have to go to several searches to figure it out. Customer Service only puts a band aid on the issue generally creating other issues and they never can help when you ask and accounting question. As well as being put on hold many times throughout the call. To the point we dont like to call for help unless we are completely stuck.

Kommentare: can other credit card companies other than worldpay be used with CDK Lightspeed EVO?

Vorteile:

I feel this software is tailored more for larger companies than ours. Companies where there are individuals that only do one job, ie; accts payable, receivables, payroll etc.

Nachteile:

It would be useful to be able to switch from one store to another, without needing to log out and log in to the other company. Such as have a permission for that.

Powerful and Comprehensive Tool

Kommentare: Been using it for 20 years, we could not possibly run our business without this software

Vorteile:

Lightspeed has all of the features needed to run your Marine business, it just takes time to learn how to use them all effectively.

Nachteile:

I would re-write the Rental module to concentrate on renting space for storage or slips, not boats or watercraft rentals. I would also allow much more end user control of canned forms and screens.

Kommentare: Terrible. I have voiced my concerns over the past 8 years, and all I have seen are the backs of those that receive my feedback, is their backs as they run for the hills. I believe the problem is a focus on making money in spite of customer feedback instead of focusing on the good of the customer

It was supposed to be easy to use as it was an industry wide solution. It is not and there seems to be no inclination to see it change

Nachteile:

Useability in an operational setting. Frankly, the only real value to me as the owner is that it feeds the GL. I do not have confidence in the numbers at all. Very sad actually

Vorteile:

Great software. We always recommend it to our peers and 20 group. We love the software and how it works for our boat dealership.

Nachteile:

The customer service response time is terrible. We have trouble tickets that last weeks. We give our boat customers guaranteed same day service and I do expect similar from our vendors. The call backs and email reply to issues is terrible and takes weeks to get a for some problems or questions.

Kommentare: Benefits are less lost inventory better repair order flow.
up to date running total for Repair orders.
Good control of what's ordered and tracking of parts.

Vorteile:

Inventory control is great. Implementation was horrible, Accounts are not favorable for canadian company's eg. Tax's, Pst and Gst reports are terrible and don't always match other reports. Repair orders are great. Great parts system

Nachteile:

Poor set up, left us hanging for 6 months to figure it out, had to hire outside company to make heads or tails of the accounting system. pst and gst reports , inventory asset report still haven't found please call me [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

Vorteile:

We liked the detail, but found the product extremely difficult to use, very rigid and not user friendly at all.

Nachteile:

We had difficulty with the rigidity of the system, and had difficulty with getting answers to questions in a timely manner when we called. Sometimes it would be days before a return call, difficult to remember the question at that point.

It just works

Kommentare: Overall, solid product. Much better thought out and supported then previous versions of the software.

Vorteile:

It integrates well with service manager pro. While other versions were VERY unreliable, the upgrade to EVO has been fairly trouble free. MUCH less problems than earlier versions.... MUCH LESS. A software used all day every day but multiple people in a dealership NEEDS to be dependable. They've done a pretty good job with EVO.

Nachteile:

Integration with Honda's iN. Parts catalog still does not like to bring parts list into RO's and invoices.

Kommentare: we have been very frustrated with lightspeed over our 26 years of doing business with them

Vorteile:

it is a necessary part of our business that I wish there was a competitive alternative for.

Nachteile:

the process to train existing dealers about best practices, new features etc is very , very weak. quick access to support and follow up from support is weak. this is a very expensive on going cost for us and LS has been underachieving in training and support for as long as we have been a customer.

Lightspeed for Boat Dealers

Kommentare: Its a love/hate relationship.

Vorteile:

I like the customization and abilities of the software.

Nachteile:

It doesn't work well when departments collaborate. Sales/Service don't work well enough together from a billing/margin/workflow side of things. It's not web based, so working remotely in lightspeed is challenging. In sales, we don't quote out of lightspeed due to how time consuming it is, so we actually quote boats out of another software to get the sale, and then spend the 30minutes in LS to write up the final PA.

reports don't work properly cust service quick to close cases long ordeal to deal with parts from suppliers that have no inventory and have to buy from another one payment integration does not do tap - very important due to current events ! difficulty with multiple suppliers for a part

Assessment of Lightspeed as an Accounting software

Vorteile:

Easy to use. The Monthly Financial Statements.

Nachteile:

Cannot get Monthly Financial Statements by Month on one Sheet. Tedious to create new accounts and ensure the fall in the correct position of the Financial Statements. The Inventory Ledger can be updated without entries automatically hitting the General Ledger.

Kommentare: Because the system is so complex and having many different ways to do things it is difficult to learn and train new people. Once we figure it out it is good.

Vorteile:

Ability to cross over in all facets of the business.

Nachteile:

The inability to use scan gun in any other functions than parts invoice. It is extremely labor intensive to make labels for the sales floor and to be able to scan in product to receive things.
