Our company's ultimate security protection!

Vorteile:

We have been using Sophos in our company for ensuring data and network protection. Our system administrators find it easy to use, customizable, and powerful enough to catch any rogue device or threats. The built-in reporting and logging system is very useful to allow the administrators know exactly everything that's happening, and it is best presented using easy to read graphs, and daily summaries. We've tried their competitor and it seems to us that Sophos is more optimized and works much faster using the same hardware.

Nachteile:

Pricing. But just like anything of value, it comes at quite a high price. Competition may offer a lower price tag.

A Complete All-in-one Firewall

Kommentare: Our company's web servers and applications for both intra and internet has been fortified and protected by Sophos UTM. We feel well secured as long as we keep it updated.

Vorteile:

Sophos UTM for me is a complete all-in-one firewall that is enough to address a small to mid-sized company. (I have no experience with big company implementation so I cannot comment on that.) It is fairly easy to setup and deploy. We use Sophos for protecting our Web Applications, managing our IP security, and for detecting and managing network intrusions. One thing I haven't maximized yet is the use of the free VPN. No stability issues so far, and we feel rightly protected.

Nachteile:

I find the console and interface to be cumbersome to navigate and I always end up using the top left Search function. Maybe I need more familiarization with it, but offhand it's not so intuitive.

I have been using SOPHOS UTM since past 3 years and I will rate it as an average product.

Kommentare: This product is implemented by me and my team at few of our customer offices.Benefits are enlisted as follows
-We installed this prodct as routed firewall, first line of defense against unprotected network which made our network secure and solved our basic purpose of providing internet connectivity to user by using NAT.
-Its SSL vpn feature benefited the users who are working from home or outside office to access the internal resources flawlessly.
-It helped us manage the bandwidth of leased line.

Vorteile:

-The best thing about SPHOS is the ease of use even a nontechie person with enough understanding will be able to set up a basic environment. -The GUI is extremely user friendly and all the features are very well placed because of which using this product is extremely handy. -Best for Simple setups i.e if you run an organisation of 20-200 users and you need to provide a basic secure internet connectivity along with some url/web filtering; this product is a good choice. -As compared to other products in the same segment sophos UTM seems pocket friendly which is why startups in south asia are opting this product. -Support is just awesome; one can expect resolution within few minutes the call gets logged

Nachteile:

-When it comes to complex networks, I have seen this product failing haplessly especially when it comes to routing protocols -URL filtering just works but doesn't always behave as it ideally should behave especially when TLS/SSL is used. -Few advanced features (such as vpn with overlapping subnets) that aren't supported with this box -Granular control over the applications is missing too; I believe this has to be accomplished masterly as nowadays there is very high risk of layer 7 attacks such as ransomware.

Sophos the next gen firewall for all ur security services

Kommentare: I have administered multi vendor firewalls but sophos i believe is a game changer. It has all the security bundles in built, they need to focus on mid sized market and roll out pricing as per the same for the services.

Vorteile:

This firewall provides bundle of services. Setting up of ssl vpn was exceptional easy. Rule configuration per zone was easy to set up App rule , content filtering, ips/ids sophos utm has all clubbed in one box

Nachteile:

Patches and fixing should be done on priority, security reviews and solutions should be done on weekly or within 15 days go avoid breachins.

Easy to deploy and manage

Kommentare: Sophos is a workhorse of a network tool which is a good option esp for smaller to mid sized organizations.

Vorteile:

Our admins love how Sophos UTM was so easy to deploy and manage. The console and dashboard is easy to get familiar with. We're kept up-to-date with all important events happening in our systems with just a quick glance. So far, the anti-spam filtering has been very effective and we hardly get any false positives. IP security is easy to set up and overall it works as a complete network tool. Big plus is the VPN capabilities that it comes bundled with. Other vendors charge a great sum for this as a separate module/function.

Nachteile:

I would love to see a more detailed reporting tool. There are a lot of options for configuration although most of it are left untouched (set to default) as we still try to get a better grasp of how things work.

Excellent Firewall and threat management software

Kommentare: I have used both free version at home and commercial SG series hardware at office for about 10 years since it was an Astaro product. The quality and features grow every year, and there is very little it can't do. The HTML5 web interface for management is great and laid out quite well for finding what you want to configure or what reports you are looking for.

Vorteile:

Excellent interface, reporting and protection features.

Nachteile:

Some desired features have been on their development todo list longer than would like.

Best value when it comes to basic functions and features for Unified Threat Management (UTM).

Kommentare: Ease of use and product flexibility.

Vorteile:

This device can act as a complete solution for your network. The hardware that we are currently using can act as an endpoint protection controller, Wireless WiFi Controller (Sophos AP) and crude bandwidth manager.

Nachteile:

The device is limited when it comes to detailed reports. You may need to dedicate another solution to make sure that events or key network matrices are available in a reasonable timespan.

Simply a great firewall

Kommentare: Used them for several years, support when needed was quick to respond.

Vorteile:

Using the UTM has been getting easier over the years. Managing and creating rules is much simpler than it used to be back when they were Astaro.

Nachteile:

The licensing scheme was expensive. When creating rules things can get very complicated.

Industry Leading NGFW for excellent value

Vorteile:

Excellent NGFW with advanced threat detection, easy to use GUI, and great reliability. The UTM has a range of physical interfaces and sizes to suit each network size and capacity.

Nachteile:

Missing a Topology Diagram for both physical and logical, but some competitor vendors do include this.

Sophos antivirus

Vorteile:

Easy to use and very important. At the Moment i think is the best Solution

Nachteile:

Very frequently update But i think this is important

Sophos UTM Review

Kommentare: This solution has secured and protected our business for over 2 years now. Very easy to manage, requires little training to get familiar.

Vorteile:

The setup was smooth and easy, the GUI is simple and has all the features and tools you need. Sophos's key points are the excellent security and threat management which is essential for any company.

Nachteile:

Can't really say anything negative about this product other than the price is a bit too high.

The UTM is great, does everything we need it to in an easy to use interface.

Vorteile:

Easy to use and setup. Understanding and easily seeing routes, and rules is a plus. Interface allows for searching for settings since there are so many.

Nachteile:

Licensing can be confusing and some products overlap so it's hard to know which one is the right one to use.

Powerful Firewall

Vorteile:

The Sophos UTM firewall is a fantastic product with a LOT of options for your internet security. It is highly configurable with a fast but complex interface.

Nachteile:

With a lot of options for the configuration comes a lot of complexity

Great UTM Solution for Small Medium Businesses

Kommentare: Overall experience is good if you are looking for a "simple-to-manage" yet effective perimeter security solution.

Vorteile:

Most of the UTM features are available within the appliance. The administration GUI is easy to navigate; hence configurations can be done easily.

Nachteile:

The filtering of security logs is limited. Reporting of security events are also not much options.

Very effective product just difficult to set up and maintain when no training is available

Kommentare: safe on the web in our small business

Vorteile:

That it does exactly what its supposed to do, I have no doubt I am safer by owning this, It does everything from web protections to firewall and email security

Nachteile:

that the customer support techs are very difficult to understand because they are not originating from the English language. they know their product really well it just makes for really long tech calls because I am constantly asking to repeat. I have also experienced lots of bugs in the system where things don't quite work the way they should

Sophos UTM = RELAX

Kommentare: The products are great and the technical support is excellent.

Vorteile:

This has all of the features that could ever be needed, and is very reliable.

Nachteile:

It is not very easy to configure and modify.

Decent Tool But Not Overly Impressive

Kommentare: Protection for various cyber threats

Vorteile:

Sophos UTM has helped us in terms of protecting our systems from various viruses, malware and ransomware. The best part of this tool is the VPN functionality which we find has helped us reduce on the number of network infections by over 80%!

Nachteile:

I find the User Interface (UI) to be rather cumbersome and the feature set to be rather light in comparison to other tools. The support for the software is rather slow to respond by my standards and could use with some more discipline.

Sophos UTM is soo convienient and easy to use.

Vorteile:

I love the simplicity of the UTM interface. It servers perfect as a firewall but also has neat features Active Directory integration and syncing up via heartbeat with their antivirus software.

Nachteile:

With the simplicity there are a few things I would still like to see implemented. Ability to book a single DHCP lease and a few other options.

Reasonable UTM for SMB

Vorteile:

Price is a major plus point . SMB will find this really good as an entry introduction to UTM protection. Works best if you pair up with their endpoint protection.

Nachteile:

The XG seems to be plagued with multiple small but irritating issues. Seems like a beta product. Stick to the SG if possible. Sadly on the cloud platform, only the XG is available.

All in one network security product

Kommentare: Best security features in the lesser price

Vorteile:

Supports all kinds of VPNs (IPSec, SSL VPN, remote access) Supports all kinds of authentication servers (AD, LDAP, TACACS, RADIUS) Institute user interface Best in class analytics features Integrated SOPHOS antivirus engine

Nachteile:

This product is suitable for mid-size network High Availability (HA) could be developed better Lesser features of wireless integration in UTM

Simple but effective security for multiple machines

Vorteile:

It's not overly complicated so users don't have to worry about what things to do, they can just ignore it and let it work on its own. I like being able to manage multiple machines online rather than using a local client.

Nachteile:

It's a little oversimplified if anything, I have to trust that it's doing all of the right stuff when it runs.
